Familiar face of the web Celine Schmink agreed to pose for this month’s Bridal Make Up Magazine and tell us her life as an indie singer and influential blogger. She tells us her plans and we talk, of course, about family and marriage.
Can you introduce yourself for our foreign readers?
I am a folk singer, author and fashion-lifestyle-family blogger. I was born in 1975 in Montreuil, near Paris. I am married and mother of two boys: Noah (10 years) and Ashley (2 months). I did study art, advertising, theology and journalism. My original profession is journalist but I also released a dozen books. In 2008 I began to write and compose for others and bingo! I release my first record in a rush jointly launched in Paris and Perth in Australia where I am supported by the brand Slinky Sleeves, then my Paris-Memphis album, an American collaboration. I do the radios and TV circuit in France and Europe. My songs are broadcast on radio in the USA, France, Ireland, Japan and Belgium. I even have a Japanese website !
Your blog is talked about. Do you consider yourself more a blogger or a singer?
I consider myself primarily as a writer because writing a song, a book or article is the continuation of a common goal: the pen. I write as I breathe. And sometimes it’s songs. It is as simple as that.
Your blog Leblogdeceline.com is a dream with a lot of studio trips and celebrities but you, how do you live each day?
Very simply. My husband and I restore a little house in the countryside, an old 90m2 bar. We live almost off love and fresh water (laughs). We are simple. This is my career that wants me to seem a little “glamorous.” But all my work be it writing or music is profound. I am a natural girl.
Where are you with your collaboration with The Oengus Projekt?
I love this collaboration, my husband and I work for this group. We will soon release a new single called Lorna.
What are your other musical projects?
I work with musician Eric Miller on a new album in French. It will contain 10 songs of love. But it’s a secret!
You’ve been married for 4 years, what it was like your marriage?
I wanted a vintage and natural marriage, among the exotic plants of the Jardin des Plantes in Paris. I wore a 60s dress, sober and long, high-necked and just a geometric bibi hat on my head. We were married under a giant sequoia by our pastor, on the grass. A wonderful time! (See pics here).
Marriage is sacred to you?
Yes, that is the pillar of a successful family life, especially when you have children. Loyalty is very important to me. I write a lot about marriage, several books that today are helping hundreds of women to perform their love life better.
